Who does the US currently pay to send astronauts to space
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced that it has awarded SpaceX an additional three missions under its Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) contract. The missions, known as Crew-7, Crew-8 and Crew-9, are valued at $900 million, and will bring SpaceX’s total CCtCap contract value to $349 billion.
The award of these additional missions is a testament to the progress that SpaceX has made in developing its Crew Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rocket, and the company’s commitment to providing safe, reliable and cost-effective transportation services to NASA and the International Space Station (ISS).
Crew-7 is scheduled to launch in November 2021, followed by Crew-8 in May 2022 and Crew-9 in November 2022. These missions will continue to build on the progress made by the Demo-2 mission, which launched NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the ISS in May 2020.

Why did NASA stop exploring the Moon?
It’s been over 50 years since a human has set foot on the moon. The last crewed mission to the moon was Apollo 17, which launched on December 7, 1972. The main reason that we haven’t been back since is money. The cost of getting to the moon is, ironically, astronomical. But that doesn’t mean we’ve given up on the idea of exploring our solar system. There are plenty of robotic missions being planned and carried out all the time. So even though we may not be going to the moon anytime soon, we’re still learning about our place in the universe.
The Apollo Moon landing program was expensive, and after the US pulled out of the 1972 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the last human spaceflight mission to the moon, there was no international appetite for another manned lunar mission.
Since then, priorities have shifted to low-Earth orbit missions and, more recently, to Mars. There are currently no plans for another human mission to the moon.
