Instead, the most likely explanation is that all six objects were pulled into their present configuration by the gravitational force of a yet-to-be-discovered planet–a “Planet X”–lurking in the outer solar system.
“This excess, or clustering, of orbits implies that something else, with a mass similar to Neptune’s, is shaping these orbits,” Batygin says.
