Looking for an out-of-this-world summer experience for your kids? Check out America’s best space camps! From learning about rocket science to exploring the universe, these camps offer something for every budding astronaut.
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida is a great place to start. Here, kids can tour the iconic spacecraft and see where astronauts train for their missions. They can also learn about the science behind space travel and even get to meet a real-life astronaut!
For something a little more hands-on, check out the Virginia Space Flight Academy. Here, kids will get to build and launch their own rockets, as well as learn about the physics of space flight. They’ll also have the chance to meet NASA engineers and scientists and tour the Wallops Island launch facilities.
And finally, no list of space camps would be complete without the Space Camp at the US Rocket and Space Center in Alabama. Here, kids will learn all about the history of space exploration, from the early days of the space race to the present day. They’ll also get to experience zero gravity, build and launch their own rockets, and even take a simulated space mission!
Did Elon Musk go to Space Camp?
If you’re looking for a group of successful and famous people who have all graduated from the same place, you needn’t look any further than Space Camp. Among its notable alumni are tech mogul Elon Musk, actress Charlize Theron, and astronaut Samantha Christoforetti, who has spent time on the International Space Station. What they all have in common is a love of space and adventure, which is what Space Camp is all about.
Space Camp is a great opportunity for kids to learn about the astronaut lifestyle and experience many of the same activities that real astronauts do. The programs are usually five days long, and kids will learn about everything from space science to survival training. In addition to Space Camp, older kids can participate in Space Academy (ages 12-17) or Advanced Space Academy (ages 17-18), which offer even more in-depth learning experiences.

The students had a great time learning about astronaut training techniques and equipment. They were especially excited about the water activity and spaceflight mission. They were very interested in the aerospace career opportunities and are looking forward to learning more about them in the future.
How much does it cost for a citizen to go to space?
Since the retirement of the space shuttle program, the cost of transport for astronauts to the ISS has increased. This is due to the fact that now, NASA has to pay Russia to transport astronauts to the ISS on the Soyuz rocket, which costs about $80 million per seat. This is a significant increase from the previous cost of transport, which was much cheaper due to the fact that the space shuttle program was active. The retirement of the space shuttle program has thus had a significant impact on the cost of spaceflight for NASA.
