Can I visit Starbase Texas
This note is to inform you that both the Starbase and the launch site are on the road and are considered “No trespassing” zones. However, photos taken from the fence are perfectly fine. Thank you for your cooperation.
Although it is possible that the first Starship orbital launch could take place from Florida, it is unlikely that SpaceX would abandon their plans for South Texas. They have invested too much time and resources into the Boca Chica launch site to simply give up on it. Even if the Florida launch is a success, SpaceX will probably continue to develop both launch sites to provide greater flexibility and redundancy for their spaceflight operations.
Why is SpaceX located in Texas?
Boca Chica is sitauted in the southernmost corner of Texas near the gulf of Rio Grande. It is a few kilometers east of the city of Brownsville and the US-Mexico border. The very remoteness that makes it attractive to local residents and visitors alike made it an ideal location for the SpaceX launch site.
LZ-1 and LZ-2 were both built by SpaceX and are the only landing facilities on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station for recovering components of SpaceX’s VTVL reusable launch vehicles. Both landing zones are approximately 150m x 150m in size. LZ-1 is located on the north side of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, while LZ-2 is on the south side. SpaceX has plans to build additional landing zones on the east and west sides of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, but these are not yet operational.
